Band

My dad took this photo one of our gigs. I guess this means I'll have to take more pictures at our gigs and practices this year, because it's a very cool thing, and it deserves to have pictures taken of it. I am sure that I could scan the yearbook page with jazz band in it, and that would be okay... but, we'll see. Soon enough.

Jazz band is made up of several dedicated rhythm section members, some trumpets, some just-as-dedicated trombones, who vary from practice to practices, and saxes.

Each year, we play several gigs and have lots and lots of rehearsals. Usually we also visit a Jazz Festival, either Regional or District. That is much fun... being on the bus very late at night. This year, we took first at our jazz festival.

Our music varies, but is usually phenomenal. We also host a "Jazz Band and Friends" gig each year, where local singers and musicians come to play with us. One gig which was extremely special this year was Tim Ries' visit. We were his opening act. If you have never heard of Tim Ries, you should definitely check him out. He is phenomenal.

This next section is about concert band, and the next few pictures were taken from the spring final concert of the 2002-2003 season, which was a huge success.

This is our conductor, Mr. Rice, as he conducts "Grand Serenade for an Awful Lot of Winds and Percussion" by PDQ Bach.
